Crested Serpent Eagle
Animal Description

The Crested Serpent Eagle is one of the most easily recognized raptors in Sri Lanka. Known for its loud, high-pitched “kluee-kluee” calls, it is often spotted perched high on a tree or soaring with broad wings. Its diet is specialized towards reptiles, especially snakes (hence the name “Serpent Eagle”). In Sri Lanka, it is a common sight across forests, scrublands, and even village outskirts, making it one of the most familiar raptors to birdwatchers.
