Animal Description

The Indian Pangolin is one of the most enigmatic and evolutionarily unique mammals on the planet. Often described as a "living pinecone" or an "armored anteater," this solitary creature is famous for its defensive strategy: rolling into a virtually impenetrable ball when threatened, relying on its armor of thick, overlapping keratin scales to deter predators. Intriguingly, it uses a remarkably long, sticky tongue—which is actually anchored near its pelvis rather than its mouth—to lap up thousands of ants and termites daily.
