Animal Description
The Sri Lankan tufted gray langur (Semnopithecus priam thersites) is a large, long‑limbed monkey with gray fur, a dark face, and a distinctive tuft of hair on the crown. This arboreal primate is mostly active during the day, moving gracefully through tree canopies in search of food. Unlike the omnivorous toque macaque, the tufted gray langur is primarily a leaf-eater, aiding forest health through seed dispersal. Their loud alarm calls often alert other wildlife to predators, and they are commonly seen in dry zone parks like Yala and Wilpattu.
