Rufous-bellied Eagle
Animal Description

The Rufous-bellied Eagle is a striking medium-sized raptor known for its bold plumage and powerful hunting skills. It is one of the most colorful eagles in Asia, easily recognized by its contrasting dark upperparts and bright rufous underparts. Despite its small size compared to other eagles, it is an agile predator, often seen swooping through forest canopies to catch birds and small mammals. In Sri Lanka, it inhabits dense forests, especially in the wet and intermediate zones, making it a relatively uncommon but spectacular sighting for birdwatchers.
