White-bellied Sea Eagle
Animal Description

The White-bellied Sea Eagle is one of the most striking raptors in Sri Lanka. With its powerful build and contrasting white and dark grey plumage, it is often seen soaring majestically over coastal lagoons, estuaries, large lakes, and rivers. It is the second largest raptor in Sri Lanka (after the Grey-headed Fish Eagle) and is renowned for its spectacular aerial dives when catching fish. This bird is also known for pirating food from other waterbirds, including smaller raptors. In Sri Lanka, it is commonly seen around lagoons and coastal wetlands.
